Latest updates: Relatives of those affected by the shooting in California await information on the status of their loved ones.

Sheriff Robert Luna of Los Angeles County is searching for an Asian man between the ages of 30 and 50 in connection with a shooting that occurred in Monterey Park, which left 10 people dead. He called the shooting one of the county's "most heinous cases" and urges the public to help in finding the suspect. Another shooting took place in the neighboring city of Alhambra, where an armed man entered a dance hall, was disarmed by those inside, and fled. The authorities later surrounded a white van in Torrance, about 30 miles from Monterey Park, believing it to be connected to the shooting, but it is unclear what was found inside. The shooting took place at a building on West Garvey Avenue on the eve of the Lunar New Year, which is a major holiday in many Asian communities.
